• Israel Denied Moment of Silence at Olympics for Victims of 1972 Massacre

By Ivana Kvesic on May 23,2012

Israeli politicians, U.S. senators, and activists around the world are calling on the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to issue a moment of silence during this summer's London games in honor of the 11 athletes, coaches, and referees killed in a terrorist attack at the 1972 Olympic games in Munich.

Israeli and American politicians are calling for "just one minute" – a request that has been made every year since the 1976 Montreal Games – on behalf of two widows. Ankie Spitzer, widow of fencing coach Andrei Spitzer, and Ilana Romano, widow of weightlifter Yossef Romano, lost their husbands in the terrorist attack carried out against the Israeli Olympic team 40 years ago.

Despite the renewed calls for a moment of silence, the IOC has once again denied the request to pay tribute to the fallen athletes saying that the organization has already paid official tribute to the victims of the Munich massacre. more >>

  • Olympic Hurdler Lolo Jones, Virgin, Told 'Having Sex Will Make You Faster' (VIDEO)

By Brittney R. Villalva on May 23,2012

Olympic track and field athlete Lori Jones, who often goes by Lori, has stated that her virginity is a gift that she plans on saving for her husband. Of course Jones has no time for marriage now, as she goes for the gold this summer in London.

Training to become an Olympic athlete is no easy task and Lolo Jones knows all about that. She has been training for the 2012 Olympics since the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Jones was projected to take home the gold in 2008 during the 100-meter hurdles, but tripped and finished in seventh place instead.

Jones has been focused on her athletic career since high school, which has left little time for settling down into any serious relationships. For Jones however, not having a serious relationship has delayed a few other things in her life as well. Soon to be 30, Jones recently revealed that she is still a virgin. more >>

  • Dwyane Wade and Lebron James Address Danny Granger's Refusal to 'Back Down'

By Christine Thomasos on May 22,2012

Dwyane Wade and Lebron James, Miami Heat All-Stars, have commented on Indiana Pacers forward Danny Granger's physical playing style resulting in a heated exchange of words between the NBA stars during the Eastern Conference Semifinals series.

Granger, 29, received technical fouls after exchanging words and getting in the face of both 30-year-old guard Wade and 27-year-old forward James in the three games of the playoff series. The Pacers forward told ESPN that he was doing nothing more than being physical in a high-stakes playoff game.

"That's part of basketball. That's part of two men battling," Granger said after the Pacers' practice on Saturday. "I'm not going to back down from anybody and he's not going to back down from anybody. And when you get that, you'll get some altercations." more >>

By Christine Thomasos on May 21,2012

Mike D'Antoni, former head coach of the New York Knicks, is finally speaking out about resigning from the team in March and helping contribute to the rise of Jeremy Lin in the NBA.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, D'Antoni spoke about how tough it was to resign after the Knicks were stuck in a six-game losing streak with him at the helm. Although D'Antoni didn't feel comfortable speaking about forward Carmelo Anthony having anything to do with his departure, he did say that it was time for him to go.

"I'm just not going to get into specifics. It came to the point that I had to resign, that's all," D'Antoni told SI. "It was time. We weren't going anywhere and I was the coach." more >>
