Marvin Winans Carjacked; Detroit Pastor Grieves Over Youths' Lack of 'Moral Center'
Prominent Detroit Minister and Grammy Award-winning singer the Rev. Marvin Winans has expressed disappointment after being beaten and robbed by several young men this week, saying young people, if not raised right, will have no sense of honor and respect.
Winans, pastor of Perfecting Church and the minister who delivered Whitney Houston's eulogy in February, was assaulted around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday when he pulled into a CITGO gas station to refuel his SUV. The minister, whose siblings include BeBe and CeCe Winans, told police he noticed 10 young men in the station as he entered.
"I was putting my gas in the tank and turned around to face them," the minister reportedly said Thursday, according to the Root DC. He was soon engaged in casual conversation with three or four young men and became distracted when one of them said his gas was overflowing. more >>
Mo. Pastors in Christian Softball League at Odds Over Bisexual Minister
Pastors of three churches in Saint Clair, Mo., have declared that their softball teams from a Christian league will no longer compete against a fourth church because its pastor is openly bisexual, which they say is unbiblical.
The Rev. James Semmelroth Darnell, 27. shared with Fox News that in response, his St. John United Church of Christ team, based in Saint Clairteam, is pulling out of the league because they do not want to cause further controversy.
"Three teams had issue with that and no longer wanted to play against our team since I am an out bisexual person," the Rev. Darnell explained. "And it's surprising because I don't even play, I have no affiliation with the league." more >>

Black Christians in an 'Adulterous' Relationship With Obama, Says Evangelical Pastor

An influential African-American evangelical pastor says that many black Christians are in an "adulterous" relationship with President Obama over the issue of same-sex marriage and that if the issue is not addressed soon, it will negatively impact the president's desire for a second term in November.
In an interview with The Christian Post, Bishop Harry Jackson, Jr., who is the senior pastor of Hope Christian Church in Baltimore, Md., and one of the nation's most outspoken black pastors, maintains that Obama has drawn a hard line on major theological issues such as same-sex marriage and expects black Christians to compromise their beliefs.
"Obama laid down the gauntlet on black leaders," Jackson said. "The question we are being forced to address is 'are you going to be black or be godly.'" more >>
John MacArthur on Divorce: We Can't Edit God

Pastors should not be afraid of offending their followers with the message that God hates divorce despite churches having congregations that often reflect the same alarming rate of divorce as the general population, said theologian and pastor John MacArthur.
"We have one responsibility as pastors and that is to teach the word of God. We don't have an alternative. We can't edit God. That's the wrong thing to do," said MacArthur during a recent broadcast on Focus on the Family Daily.
"We have been called into this ministry for the purpose of disseminating to our generation the truth of the word of God. We have no other message. I have no other message than what God has put in the word," he added while discussing the subject with FOTF President Jim Daly. more >>
