  • Santorum Post-Campaign: 'I'm the Only Conservative Who Tried to Do Anything'

By Stoyan Zaimov on April 12,2012

Former GOP Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum, who suspended his campaign Tuesday afternoon, still made time to go to an event later in the evening at Lancaster Bible College in Pennsylvania, where he questioned why other conservative Republicans were not as open on social issues as he.

There were more than a thousand people in attendance, CNN reported, when Santorum sat down at the college campus to speak with James Dobson, founder of the conservative group Focus on the Family, who previously endorsed the former Pennsylvania senator for the White House.

Just hours after announcing that his campaign run was over, Santorum shared with Dobson that the decision was harder on his family, who were with him every step of the way. more >>

  • Rick Santorum Suspends Presidential Campaign

By Stoyan Zaimov on April 10,2012

GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum announced Tuesday at a conference in his home state of Pennsylvania that he is suspending his campaign, which leaves Mitt Romney as the likely candidate to face off against President Barack Obama in November.

At the conference, Santorum first addressed concerns over his youngest daughter, Bella, who has been battling an illness and was hospitalized last week, and shared that she is a "fighter" and is recovering well.

Earlier on Tuesday, two top advisers of Santorum's campaign announced that it was likely he would shortly be suspending his presidential campaign, The New York Times reported. The former Pennsylvania senator has faced increasing pressure in recent weeks to drop out of the race, as campaign rival Romney has taken a very steady lead in terms of delegates and looks the very likely winner of the GOP presidential nomination. more >>

  • 4 Years Later: Missionary Finally Returns With Adopted Son

By Napp Nazworth on April 01,2012

Christian missionary Becky Morlock landed on U.S. soil March 24 after being stuck in India for more than four years due to complications in obtaining a visa for her adopted son, Kyle.

"I am so incredibly happy and thankful to finally see my family and friends. And, I am really excited for everyone to finally meet Kyle," said Morlock in an interview Thursday with The Christian Post.

"Kyle is doing pretty well, adjusting to his new home," Morlock continued. "This is a big change for him … new faces, a new house, a new car seat … new everything. He is enjoying it and warmed up to the family right away, but we definitely need to take a lot of breaks and just go slow." more >>

  • Anti-Religion Group Sues, Claims Pa. 'Year of the Bible Resolution' Is Unconstitutional

By Luiza Oleszczuk on March 28,2012

An organization of atheists and agnostics filed a lawsuit against a Pennsylvania state House resolution that declares 2012 the "Year of the Bible," claiming the measure violates the U.S. Constitution and requesting the court to "declare that the government is not 'Judeo-Christian.'" The resolution's sponsors, however, tell The Christian Post the lawsuit is without merit, and that it would be difficult to deny the Bible's impact on the U.S.

"The Bible had a tremendous impact on our founding, as well as on all of our leaders and our history," state Rep. Rick Saccone (R-Allegheny), the resolution's author, told CP Wednesday, noting Bible passages and imagery inscribed on government buildings. "The Bible is part of our culture," he added. "You can't deny the impact the Bible had on this country."

Annie Laurie Gaylor, the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF)'s co-president, insists the Bible has no bearing on the document used to govern the nation. "We have a perfectly Godless and secular Constitution," she told CP. "There's no Bible, no Jesus, no Holy Scripture in our Constitution." more >>

  • Atheist Group Demands Pa. School Remove Ten Commandments Monument

By Stoyan Zaimov on March 26,2012

A Pennsylvania high school is facing a legal battle to keep its monument of the Ten Commandments, which it has had for decades, after an atheist group threatened to sue the school district for violating the separation of church and state.

Administrators at Valley High School in New Kingston, Pa., received a letter last week from the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) asking them to take the down the six-foot-high monument that sits on the school grounds outside of the entrance to the gymnasium. The statue displays the Ten Commandments as found in the Old Testament of the Bible, and was given in 1957 as a gift to the school by the New Kensington Fraternal Order of Eagles, a nonprofit community group.

The atheist group, however, is not concerned with how long the statue has been in place, as it feels that it clearly violates the First Amendment and the separation of church and state. more >>
