Andrea and Scott Swift were married 25 years ago, having their daughter Taylor and her younger brother Austin.
The couple allegedly split sometime within the past two years, but have remained mum on the sensitive subject, according to an unconfirmed report by Star magazine via RadarOnline.com.
"The Swift's stopped wearing their wedding rings," an insider said speaking to Star. "They haven't filed for a divorce because they don't want it to damage Taylor's career."
The "Our Song" singer appears to be unaffected by her parent's problems. Swift attended the 2012 Teen Choice Awards Sunday in high spirits where she earned five awards total.
According to the insider, Swift coped with her family's issues with music.
"She's been going through a lot," said Star's source. "The new album will showcase the pain of her parents' separation."
Known for channeling her feelings in her lyrics, Swift has penned songs such as "Story of Us" and "Back to December" based on past heartaches.
Suspicions of the Swift's marital troubles were heightened when 22-year-old singer opened up about the lyrics on her upcoming album.
"They're sad, if I'm being honest," revealed Swift.
The Grammy Award-winning singer is often described as one of America's sweethearts and is internationally recognized for her blonde curly hair and red lips. Her catchy, narrative songs have earned her international success.
Swift's most recent album, "Speak Now," sold over one million sales in its first week. Moreover, her Speak Now World Tour ranked 10th in Pollster's "Top 50 Worldwide Tour (Mid-Year)" and earned over $40 million.
The country music star has also tried her hand at acting, and has appeared in films "Valentine's Day" and "Dr. Seuss' The Lorax."
