Shakira and her boyfriend have debuted the first images of their son Milan just two days after welcoming him on Friday.

The new mother and her boyfriend Gerard Pique tweeted a photo of their son's tiny feet donning a pair of personalized Nike sneakers with the caption, "Milan's feet!"

Written on the small white shoes was the name "Milan."

"We are happy to announced the birth of Milan Pique Mebarak, son of Shakira Mebarak and Gerard Pique, born January 22nd at 9:36pm, in Barcelona, Spain," the singer announced in a post to Twitter.

"The name Milan (pronounced MEE-lahn) means dear, loving and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification," Shakira continued.

Shakira, 35, delivered her son in Barcelona in order for the child to have dual citizenship.

"Just like his father, baby Milan became a member of FC Barcelona at birth," the announcement read.

Milan was born at a healthy 6 pounds and 6 ounces and was in "excellent health," Shakira noted on her site.

The Colombian singer and Pique, 25, have been together for two years, and Shakira described her boyfriend as "the best thing" that ever happened to her via Twitter. Pique is a soccer player for Barcelona and Spain.

"This man is the best thing that could have happened in my life," wrote the "Whenever, Wherever" singer. "And now I have a baby!"

Instead of having a traditional baby shower, the new parents used the pregnancy to benefit those in need. Through an online "virtual" shower, those participating were able to buy gifts such as mosquito nets, polio vaccines, and weight scales through UNICEF for babies that desperately need them.

Ahead of Milan's birth, Shakira made a special request to her millions of Twitter followers.

"I'd like to ask you all to accompany me in your prayers on this very important day of my life," the Grammy Award-winner wrote.
