An image recently surfaced on Vodafone that shows the Samsung Galaxy S2 smartphone running Android 4.0.3, otherwise known as Ice Cream Sandwich.

This screenshot appears to be taken from a Galaxy S2 testing out the new software on the device. It is running the ICS 4.0.3 ROM I9100BUULP2. It seems that ICS has entered into test mode on the Galaxy S2 which means that Samsung fans should see the final version popping up very soon.

Industry insider Eldar Murtazin recently tweeted some information on his Twitter page claiming that the Android update would be coming to the smartphone on March 1, nearly a month before it was expected to come out.

"Android 4 aka ics for sgs2 is going to be officially offered by March 1(depends from county/operator)," tweeted Murtazin.

Samsung made a public announcement on Dec. 20 stating that the Galaxy S2, Galaxy Note and Galaxy Tab devices would definitely receive the Android 4.0 update in the near future. The original report said that both the Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note would receive it before the end of the first quarter of 2012. Other devices updates would follow shortly after.

HTC also took to its Facebook account yesterday in order to announce the smartphones from its line that would be receiving the upgrade in the next two months.

The first HTC devices to get Android 4.0 will be the Sensation, Sensation 4G and Sensation XE. Their ICS upgrade will be rolling out during the last week of March.

There will also be a second round of Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades for HTC devices that includes the HTC Rezound, Vivid, Amaze 4G, EVO 3D, EVO Design 4G, Incredible S, Desire S and Desire HD.
