Samsung will release a 7.1-inch Galaxy Tab model aimed towards the children's market.

This version of the device will feature a protective cover that will help the tablet in the case of a spill or a drop. It will also come with a lot of newly designed education and fun apps for children pre-installed.

Specs on the new Galaxy Tab for kids will include a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB RAM, microSD slot, Android 4.1, JellyBean, a 7.1-inch display and a 4000mAh battery.

The tablet is expected to be available in select markets by September and will be named Galaxy Tab 3 Kids. It will launch in new colors including orange and yellow.

Samsung first unveiled its new line of Galaxy Tabs at a special media event in June that included the Galaxy Note 3 7.0, 8.0 and 10.1.

The Galaxy Note 8.0 seemed to be the most anticipated out of the three as it is the direct iPad Mini competitor. It also costs less than the Apple tablet as it retails for $299. The Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 is the smallest model of the three and costs just $199. It comes with a 1024x728 TFT display, a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 8GB of Internal storage, and Android 4.1, JellyBean.

The Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 features a 10.1-inch display with the same resolution found on the 8-inch model. It also comes with an Intel Z2560 processor, a Clover Trail+design, and runs one of the latest versions of Android. Samsung's Intel collaboration of this device is the first of more joint projects that are soon to come. It is also helping Samsung to reduce its reliance on chips from Qualcomm and its very own in house Exynos operation.
