Robert Griffin III may just be a rookie, but the Washington Redskins quarterback consoled fellow QB Tony Romo after the Dallas Cowboys came up short of their playoffs hopes last Sunday.

Griffin's Redskins bested Romo's Cowboys 28-18 last Sunday, amid the latter's three interceptions. Although Romo has been in the NFL for close to 10 years, he received advice from rookie Griffin after a tough loss last Sunday.

"Hey Tony. I just wanted to say to you, don't listen to what anybody else is saying about you," Griffin told Romo after the game in an audio clip that aired on Showtime's "Inside the NFL" Wednesday night. "You're a great quarterback, man. And this game doesn't mean anything."

While Romo's jersey was burned by fans in a YouTube video following the Cowboys' season-ending loss to Griffin's team last Sunday, the veteran QB was also vocal about feeling badly after the game.

"I feel as though I let my team down," Romo told reporters after his season came to a close last Sunday. "It's disappointing not being able to get over that hump but I also know that football is the ultimate team sport and I need to continue to improve, and our football team does, to get there."

Despite his shortcomings and inability to take his team to the playoffs this season, Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett made it clear that he was not ready to give up on the QB just yet.

"We have great belief of Tony Romo as our quarterback," Garrett told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "Tony has won a lot of big games for us, too, to get us to the point where we can play for the division in Week 17 in consecutive years. We all know that we want to take the next step, and Tony is going to be a big part of that going forward."
