The good news just keeps coming for the royal family. Prince Charles has told the press how "thrilled" he is to be a grandfather and that his daughter-in-law Kate is doing better.

"It's a very nice thought to become a grandfather in my old age. I'm very glad my daughter-in-law is getting better, thank goodness," he told the press. It's been a rough few days for the royals, who were all concerned about Kate's welfare, and that of her unborn child.

Charles was one of the last persons told of the pregnancy before it became worldwide news. According to several reports, William and Kate only informed him when it became clear that she was quite ill and needed to go to the hospital. The younger royals were planning to tell the entire family, and world, at Christmas, Radar Online reported.

Thankfully,, Kate only had to spend four days in the hospital being treated for hyperemesis gravidarum, which is a severe form of morning sickness. During her stay, William only left at night and sister Pippa, as well as Kate's mother and brother, were all able to visit.

After telling the press she was feeling "much better," the Duke and Duchess were whisked away to their home for more rest.

"The Duchess of Cambridge has been discharged from the King Edward VII Hospital and will now head to Kensington Palace for a period of rest. Their Royal Highnesses would like to thank the staff at the hospital for the care and treatment the Duchess has received," the Palace told Us Weekly in a formal statement.

The transfer to Kensington Palace should allow for more privacy, given that two Australian DJs were able to contact the Prince Edward hospital and receive personal information about Kate while she was still a patient. The DJs posed as Queen Elizabeth and, ironically, Prince Charles for the call.
