Mindy McCready has been committed to a treatment facility for a mental-health and alcohol-abuse evaluation by a judge, reports state. McCready has allegedly struggled since the death of her boyfriend, David Wilson, and has had her two children removed from her home.
"Family members sought to have Mindy committed to a mental-health facility and there was an emergency hearing today," a source told E! News. "They just got out o court a little while ago and the judge committed her for up to 21 days."
McCready has been struggling since the unexplained death of her boyfriend, David Wilson, on Jan. 13. His death came as a surprise, and police are still investigating the circumstances of the shooting. While many believe the gunshot wound that killed him was self-inflicted, McCready has also been rumored to be a suspect in the death.
"Oh my God, no. Oh my God, no," McCready said when Andrea Canning asked if she had killed Wilson. "He was my life. We were each other's life. There's no way to tell where one of us began and the other ended. We slept together every night holding hands. I don't understand why he would leave us," she added.
McCready's attorney confirmed just yesterday that her two children were removed from the home by the Department of Human Services. They remain in the custody of the state at this point but could be released to McCready's family if they can provide a stable home.
"Mindy needs to get help and we all care and love her and we want her to get the right help so she can move on. She is in a bad state right now, depressed and unhappy. It is not good," a friend told E! News.
McCready has a history of mental illness and suicide attempts. In 2008, paramedics rushed her to the hospital after finding wounds on her wrists that led them to believe she had attempted to kill herself. Then, just two years later, she was hospitalized for an apparent drug overdose. She maintained that she had had a bad reaction to a medication and was released from the hospital the same day.
