LeAnn Rimes has received widespread criticism over her performance during the "X Factor" final show on Wednesday.

Rimes, 30, performed a duet with 13-year-old finalist Carly Rose Sonenclar, who has been tipped to win the reality singing competition by some. The pair sang Rimes' hit song "How Do I Live," although Sonenclar' appeared to outshine the country singer.

"I love this girl so much, she is such an amazing talent, I wanna wrap her up and just hold her!" Rimes said after the performance.

Despite Rimes' vocals being hailed as "amazing" by Britney Spears, who is among the show's panel of judges, an overwhelming number of fans expressed different views on social networking site Twitter where the show was trending. Sonenclar however was praised for her performance.

"LeAnn Rimes looked and sounded drunk. I would be too if I had to sing with a 13 year old that sings my song better than me. #xfactor," Jay Smolko tweeted.

"LeAnn Rimes was GOD AWFUL 2nite. Shaky vocals, kept missing her cue, singing over Carly, trying to upstage her, messy hair, looked drunk," GracieJean Kelly tweeted.

"Was Leann Rimes drunk?! Swaying but not to the beat and way off key = SUI (singing under the influence) #xfactorusa," Suzie Seagraves tweeted.

Rimes, who was dressed in head-to-toe black, displayed odd behavior during the 3 minute duet. The singer appeared to stumble while singing and at one point grabbed an unsuspecting Sonenclar's arm and before ending the performance with hair strands partially covering her face.

Rimes, who recently admitted to suffering from anxiety and stress, was admitted to rehab in August to combat personal issues.

The singer continues to receive constant backlash from the public over her 2009 affair with then married actor Eddie Cibrian. Although the pair have since married and moved on from their respective spouses, Rimes has been embroiled in an ongoing feud with Cibrian's former wife Brandi Glanville which a friend of the reality TV star recently attempted to explain.

Jennifer Gimenez, a close friend of Glanville's, claims that Rimes simply suffers from poor self esteem which she believes is the reason for what she considers to be consistently strange behavior.

"She copies everything that Brandi does," Gimenez told Star magazine before going on to suggest that Rimes has an unhealthy obsession with Glanville.

"She even exchanged her black Range Rover for a white one because that's what Brandi drives! If Brandi gets a new bag or shoes, within a week you will see LeAnn with the exact same thing," she added.
