Kim Kardashian reportedly gained millions in profits from her televised wedding to Kris Humphries, but some feel she is losing respect after her divorce announcement.
Kardashian received $1 million from People magazine for exclusive rights to her photographs, along with an alleged $17.9 million earnings from the nuptials. After 72 days, some feel the wedding was nothing more than a money-earning scheme.
The soon-to-be divorced newlywed couple received backlash from the media after the official divorce announcement. One radio personality on New York’s Power 105.1 Breakfast club morning show named Kardashian and Humphries the “Donkey of The Day” after hearing about the divorce.
“Is anything sacred to you Kim K, $72 million in 72 days for this fake wedding” The Breakfast Club’s Charlamagne questioned. “ Congrats, But at what cost? Your credibility is shot now.”
Glenn Selig, a crisis management expert from The Publicity Agency, told FOX networks that Kardashian fans may feel betrayed by the reality television star.
“Many people will feel used-from the media to the public. And considering her marriage can be counted more easily in days, it smacks of a stunt,” Selig said. “It will, without a doubt, hurt her brand because people will feel like they’ve been played and duped.”

Richard Laermer told the Daily News that Kardashian’s announcement was executed with intentions of bringing her more attention. However, he admitted that it may backfire on her.
“If what they’re looking for is attention then releasing the news on a Monday is perfect,” he said. “Not giving details (about the breakup) and making people fight for them is perfect – the only problem is even the people that cover her will write about it with suspicion because it’s so soon after the marriage.”
Kardashian allegedly filed for divorce because she thought moving to Minnesota for her husband would be detrimental for her career. In a preview for the upcoming E! show “Kourtney and Kim Take New York” the newlyweds were speaking about the issue.
"How am I going to have my career and live in Minnesota," Kardashian asked Humphries.
"By the time you have kids and they're in school no one will care about you," Humphries responded.
Despite the disagreement, the NBA player told E! News that he was not ready to give up on Kardashian, and was spotted wearing his wedding ring on Monday.
“I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce," Humphries said on Monday. "I'm committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents. I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make it work."
However, Selig told FOX that it all seems nothing more than a publicity stunt, in which Kardashian isn’t even making an effort to make it seem believable.
“There’s a good chance that because of the success she has had, she’s become sloppy, feeling like everything she touches turns to gold,” Selig said. “It seems hard to believe that the marriage was for real given the fact that it ended so quickly. And she made so much money on it.”
