Kate and William have finally revealed the name of their puppy: Lupo.

The royal couple brought Lupo home for Christmas, and fans were thrilled to see the new addition. After weeks of speculation, palace insiders revealed that the puppy is a cocker spaniel adopted from a family friend.

The young pup has already created a media sensation, with fans creating a Twitter account in the name @LupoCambridge and a website also in the same name. Lupo joins a large family of dogs, with Queen Elizabeth owning over 10 corgis and dachshunds.

Lupo is expected to keep Kate company while William is on a military assignment in the Falkland Islands. He left at the beginning of February and is expected back home next month. The couple was reluctant to release the pup's name due to publicity and privacy reasons, but Kate spilled the beans this past weekend.

Kate has recently made several royal appearances on her own, visiting charities she is the patron. She met with clients of Action on Addiction, an organization committed to helping people recover from all types of addiction. Kate is the royal patron for the group. She also met with patients and workers at the Alder Hey Children's Hospital to observe work being done by Ronald McDonald House.

While William is away, Kate has several more appointments to keep. On March 1, she will have a proper tea with stepmother-in-law Camilla and grandmother-in-law Queen Elizabeth. The three royal ladies will attend the event hosted by Fortnum and Mason department store as a celebration of their renovation.

On March 6, Kate will travel with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip to Leicester for a celebration of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Prince William is not expected to attend, as he will still be in the Falkland Islands. Queen Elizabeth is celebrating 60 years on the English throne this year.
