Gene Simmons has claimed that he has slept with 4,897 women. The bassist of glam rock band KISS shocks many who believe the "free love" nature of the older rock groups were a bad thing for society.

It has also been claimed that another rock star, Mick Jagger slept with more than 4,000 women. That claim was not made by Jagger himself though, rather it is a claim made by author Christopher Andersen in his new book "Mick: The Wild Genius of Jagger."

"Mick Jagger has slept with 4,000 women over the course of his life, and in retrospect, I think that might be kind of a low figure," writes Andersen.

Andersen has also attempted to link some high profile names to Jagger, including Angelina Jolie, Uma Thurman, Carla Bruni, Carly Simon and Farrah Fawcett.

Not stopping there Andersen has also sought to claim Jagger participated in a gay affair with star rocker David Bowie. Again those revelations were made in a new book, although it is not the first time that people have claimed Jagger and Bowie may have had a sexual relationship. The closeness between the pair and the era in which they came from suggested to many that they may have had a relationship with one another, although others claim they were more of a "sexual tag team" with women.

Neither Jagger nor Bowie have stepped out to confirm or deny the rumors being made by Andersen.

Simmons' claim was made by himself and to those who know him it may not come as such a shock. He was known as "The Demon" as the bassist/co-vocalist of hard rock band Kiss, which he co-founded in the early 1970s. Kiss has sold over 100 million albums worldwide.
