A software update for the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 is now available for U.S. Cellular customers.

This update will bring the smartphone and phablet up to the MB1 build, which includes a few improvements and additions to the present build and upgrades it to the latest form of Android 4.1, JellyBean.

The Galaxy S3 will benefit from the update as it will fix some bugs and bring some enhancements to audio during streaming. The camera will also gain some capabilities related to continuous shooting.

The Note 2 already runs the latest version of Android 4.1, JellyBean, so the update will probably bring other kinds of upgrades and additions to the device. Changes being made to the phablet with the update are unknown at this point. However, there will most likely be bug fixes.

A new bug recently discovered on the Samsung Galaxy S3 allows users to bypass the lock screen and get right into the main menu.

This can be done by pressing "Emergency Call," followed by "Emergency Contacts," then "Home Button," followed by Power. If performed in this sequence, a Galaxy S3 user could bypass the lock screen and get right to the home screen without any security issues.

This news could be a bit negative for those looking to keep their phones secure at all times. However, it could be helpful for users who forget their password or their pattern.

This new software update might correct this issue and enhance security on the device. Other carriers issued similar software updates for the Galaxy S3 recently.

Apple had a similar problem with the iPhone's lock screen.

Samsung is also expected to roll out the Android 4.2.1 update for the Galaxy S3 in the near future.
