Former "American Idol" winner Fantasia Barrino has come under fire after appearing to support traditional marriage and not gay marriage.

The "Free Yourself" singer made a recent post on Instragram that stated that the world was in a dismal state similar to "what the Bible speaks" about. At the end of the comment, the singer said that according to the Bible, gay marriage was one thing "we should not be doing," grouping it with thing like legal marijuana use.

"I Rise ABOVE IT ALL!!! THE WORLD IS GONE MAD. KIDS, THE GOVERNMENT THE church House... Everybody Trying!!!!!!!" the 28-year-old singer said via Instagram. "Its a lot that going on that the Bible speaks about we should Not be doing. Weed legal in some places, Gay Marriage Legal BUT YET IM JUDGED!!! I'm not doing Nothing for you... My Life!!!!"

A number of angry fans responded, criticizing Barrino for her beliefs. But according to representatives for the singer, the comment was taken out of context, and her initial stance on Biblical marriage was apparently misrepresented.

"Comments made by Ms. Barrino through her Intragram account were recently taken far out of context, and the purpose of this release is to set the record straight," the reps said in a statement. "Ms. Barrino is not now, nor has she ever been an opponent of the LGBT community."

The representatives added that Barrino had been featured for numerous events that supported LGBT advocacy.

"She has supported and performed at numerous events that are sponsored by the LGBT community," the reps added. "Whether it's through a live performance or placement on social media, Ms. Barrino uses every opportunity to reach out and connect with her fans, all of her fans."

The singer also released her own statement, adding that she did not judge any of her fans for their lifestyle choices.

"It has been brought to my attention that something I said was taken out of context," Barrino said. "I, Fantasia Monique Barrino, don't judge anyone because I don't want to be judged. The gay community is one of my largest supporters. I support the gay community as they support me. Bloggers please stop misrepresenting the facts."
