Everton plays host to West Bromwich Albion and will look to close the gap between them and four placed Spurs in the chase for a UEFA Champions League birth.

David Moyes and the Toffees were looking unsettled after their consecutive goalless draws against Swansea and Southampton, but they currently sit in fifth place a mere three points behind fourth placed Spurs.

They club's confidence was given a boost after they were able to secure a victory over Bolton in the FA Cup last weekend and will look to play recent Dutch international winger Leroy Fer, whose presence will help as they head into the second half of the season.

"I felt that we are in a really strong position and that we should try and strengthen that position and stay there if we can. I would hate to look back and think I hadn't given that a go or made any attempt to do that," Moyes told reporters during a press conference.

"The squad needs help. I think the squad has done brilliant to get where it has got, but it could do with one or two additions," he added.

Manager Steve Clarke will do well to encourage his West Brom side given that they are one of only three teams to beat Everton in the league this season. The club would do well to use tactics that helped secure their 2-0 victory in August.
