Dying to Meet Him: To Live Is Christ, to Die Is Gain

By Gabrielle Devenish , Christian Post Reporter

Gabrielle "Elle" Devenish, a 30-year-old single Christian woman, was told by doctors that she has 6 months to a year to live.

"My heart, lungs, bones and muscles have all deteriorated beyond repair, according to doctors. My white blood cell count continues to match that of a last-stage chemo patient and my electrolytes are always on the edge."

To Die Is Gain

I've been discovering what King Solomon felt like when he wrote Ecclesiastes. Meaningless, meaningless, everything (on earth) is meaningless. Really, in the scope of things, now that my future with Him is so much clearer, the period of life I have left here on earth seems, well, pointless. There's no Bucket List, no place I absolutely have to go or person I absolutely have to see that could keep me here on Earth any longer and miss my appointment with my Savior.

If Jesus is calling me home, am I really gonna say, "Oh, Ok, wait a sec, God, just let me see this one person or do this one thing first." I am ready for whenever I get to see Him, for to live is Christ but to die is GAIN!!!! I really honestly would rather be with Him than on this earth with all its struggles, corruption, sin and trials. Sure there are people I love that I will leave, but only for a little while, until I see them in heaven. Sure maybe there's little pleasures here and there but then weigh that with an eternity of NO DISAPPOINTMENT, NO HURT, NO SIN, just basking in His radiant love, like a beam of sunshine. That's where I want to be. God speed!
