Diane Lane and Josh Brolin have announced that they are divorcing after eight years of marriage, according to reports on Thursday.

Lane, 48, is best known for her roles in films such as "Unfaithful" and "Nights in Rodanthe," while 44-year-old Brolin has starred in films that include "True Grit" and "Gangster Squad."

The actors' representatives confirmed the split to Us Weekly.

"Diane Lane and Josh Brolin have decided to end their marriage," said the representative, according to the magazine.

"It was a mutual decision," added an insider. "It is very amicable. It's not ugly, it's just over."

Lane and Brolin wed on August 14, 2004. The couple does not share any children. It will mark the second divorce for both actors; Lane was previously married to Christopher Lambert, while Brolin was formerly married to Alice Adair.

The divorce news arrives almost two months after Brolin was arrested in Santa Monica, Calif. for public intoxication on New Year's Day. A source close to the actor said Brolin had been hanging out with male friends and ended up having "too much fun," according to TMZ.

New Year's was not the first time the actor had a brush with the law. Brolin, who is Barbara Streisand's step-son, was arrested in 2004 on a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery, but all charges were dropped. A spokesperson for both Lane and Brolin later characterized the incident as a misunderstanding.

In 2008, Brolin was arrested in Shreveport, Louisiana; but those charges were also dropped.

Meanwhile, Brolin is set to appear in the upcoming "Sin City" sequel alongside Jessica Alba and Bruce Willis. The film, "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For," will hit theaters on Oct. 4.

Alternately, Lane will appear in this year's "Man of Steel."

Both actors have been nominated for Academy Awards.
