Following the announcement that wide receiver Derrick Mason has been traded from the Jets to the Texans, the athlete has remained positive in his faith.

Mason, who frequently tweets bible verses and faith-based messages, did no differently Wednesday.

“A setback is a set up for something great,” Mason wrote on Twitter. “I'm hungrier than ever."

Jets Coach Rex Ryan spoke to the media about the two-time pro bowler Monday.

"Guys, let's face it, I thought he'd catch 80 to 90 balls this season and it hasn't happened," Ryan said, only a few months after Mason was acquired by the Jets in the off season.

Mason was benched for the majority of Sunday night’s game against the New England Patriots, where the Jets lost 30-21. Mason was having trouble with learning the team’s offense, but the WR denied the claim, the Newark Star-Ledger reported.

“There are some things that are a little different that I’ve had to pick up on, some calls here and there,” Mason said, according to the Star-Ledger.

“But I’m picking up on the offense fairly well, and I think I’m picking up on it well enough to go out there and play fast football,” he added.

Other reports claimed that Mason was benched and possibly traded after being loose-lipped with the media following a loss to the Ravens two weeks ago.

"Obviously, there are some things that need to change," Mason said after the Jets loss, The New York Post reported.

"They have to change -- it is evident. You saw it, there are some cracks, and nobody really wants to identify the cracks. Until we identify the cracks, we’re going to keep having the same problems. Whenever somebody wants to fill up the cracks, then we can continue to move forward,” Mason stated.

However, Ryan denied that Mason’s media presence influenced his decision to bench or trade the player. The Jets’ coach said he spoke with Mason about the possibility of a trade before any speculation about his being benched, ESPN wrote.

Last week, Mason seemed to be dealing with some news that caused him to lean on his faith, via Twitter.

“What God has give or has for me can't no man take it away,” Mason tweeted.

The now Houston Texan WR also tweeted “Phil 4:13” in a portion of his message one day after the news of his trade was announced.

Mason left the Jets with five games and 13 catches for 115 yards.
