Demi Moore has pulled out of the upcoming film "Lovelace" after checking herself into a hospital Monday.

The actress has sought medical help for "exhaustion" and other health problems. Her representative said in an official statement to TMZ that Moore needs professional assistance "because of the stresses in her life right now."

The rep continued, "Demi has chosen to seek professional assistance to treat her exhaustion and improve her overall health. She looks forward to getting well and is grateful for the support of her family and friends."

Moore has been spotted publicly looking especially gaunt in recent months as she has been forced to publicly cope with rumors of Ashton Kutcher's infidelity as well as her divorce from the actor. Many reports indicate that the actress is receiving treatment for anorexia as well as problems from substance abuse.

Law enforcement spoke to TMZ saying that a call was placed late Monday night and that paramedics assessed Moore in her home before taking her to the local hospital.

The 49-year-old was to play the role of activist Gloria Steinem in the Rob Epstein directed film about a porn actress. The film tells the story of Linda Boreman who was forced into pornographic films by her husband before she ended the marriage and started an anti-pornography movement.

"Lovelace" will star Amanda Seyfried while other notable actors include Hank Azaria, James Franco, Sharon Stone, and Juno Temple. The film is scheduled to premiere this year, with the date to be announced.

Moore is receiving the support of her friends and family as she recovers, including three daughters she shares with ex-husband Bruce Willis.

Their youngest, Rumer Willis, was spotted Wednesday pacing outside the facility Moore entered for treatment. Visibly distraught, the 23-year-old was talking on her phone and smoking a cigarette wearing a visitor pass issued by the facility.

Kutcher has not publicly responded to the recent events.
