Could "Call Me Maybe" earn Carly Rae Jepsen her first Grammy? It is just possible that the popular song could earn her not one, but two awards at Sunday's award show.
The hit song has been nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance and Song of the Year, and was one of the most parodied music videos of the year, with even stars of the U.S. Olympic swimming team performing their own interpretation of the song.
The song faces competition from Ed Sheeran, Miguel, Kelly Clarkson, and Fun, which is ironic given its relatively obscure beginnings. The video, seen by Justin Bieber, was popular only in Canada before Bieber's tweet launched it into the stratosphere.
"I was in London at the time I saw Katy [Perry]'s version of 'Call Me Maybe.' I think she was at Coachella when she shot it, which was really cool. It was another surreal moment: being in London was already crazy and then on top of it, to kind of see all the stars were reaching out and doing their versions as well, it was kind of like a cherry on top of the whole thing," Jepsen told MTV.
"When we worked on the song together, we were not expecting this year to turn out to be the crazy adventure that it is," Jepsen added.
The news of the nomination came as a great surprise to the 27-year-old.

"I was gunning maybe for Top 10 on iTunes. That was my little, mini secret goal," she told the Huffington Post upon learning of the nomination. "I think with a song being as big as 'Call Me Maybe,' there's always that challenge of how do we push past that and show people that there is more to offer. I'm confident whether it's with this album or the next, I'll be able to prove that."
The Grammy Awards air Sunday, Feb. 10.
