An Android 4.1, Jelly Bean ROM was leaked by RootzWiki just hours after Google released a Jelly Bean preview update over the air to developers yesterday.

Rootz version of the software runs on both the GSM and LTE versions of the Galaxy Nexus.

Verizon users looking to download the software through RootzWiki will have to use the device's 3D CDMA service since LTE will not work. There have not been that many major issues with the software, according to The Verge, who also pointed out that users must root their Galaxy Nexus in order to install it.

Galaxy Nexus owners not willing to root their smartphones can preview Jelly Bean by downloading and installing the new Play Store or Jelly Bean wallpapers that also leaked recently.

The wallpapers can be accessed by downloading safe-to-install APK files.

Google unveiled its new Android 4.1, Jelly Bean OS during the Google I/O keynote yesterday. The software has received a number of enhancements that improve touch responsiveness and the overall smoothness of animations and the UI. The frame rate has also been accelerated to 60 frames per second.

Google displayed demos of the redesigned widgets in the software that scale intelligently around other UI elements along with a new Predictive Keyboard that takes voice commands.

Android 4.1 also features redesigned notifications that Google has now made fully customizable, expandable, and collapsible.

Google execs also presented a demo during the event that displayed the new notifications expanding to provide more information as they reached the top of the list and how they also can be expanded and collapsed at any time with gestures.

Jelly Bean will also have an improved voice search that is very similar to Apple's Siri voice recognition and personal assistant system featured on the iPhone 4S.

The software will launch sometime next month as an OTA update.
